Chayote Dal Popular

1 chayote, chopped(discard the seed from chayote)
1 1/2 cup toor dal
1 small onion, chopped
4 small green chillies, chopped
2-3 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric
1 tsp oil
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp mustard seeds
4-6 curry leaves.
1. Add chayote, toordal, turmeric, green chillies and chopped onions in a Pressure cooker and cook upto 3 whistles, simmer and then add salt.

2. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin, chilli powder and curry leaves. Pour this into the dal.

3. Add lemon juice to the dal and remove from heat.

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve with rice or chapathi.
