Ingredients:
11/2 cups mixed dhal
1 lb (450g) spinach
1 onion, chopped
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp chilli powder
2 tbsp ghee
Instructions:
1. Wash the dhal and leave to soak. Wash the spinach and chop finely.
2. Boil 3 cups of water and add the dhal, turmeric, salt and
chilli. Cook for 5 minutes and add the spinach. Keep on a medium
heat till most of the moisture has gone.
3. Meanwhile heat ghee and fry the onions, mustard seeds and cumin seeds till golden. Stir into the dhal and spinach with a teaspoon of garam masala. Keep on a moderate heat till cooked. The dish is dry, but add a little water to prevent catching.
Serve hot with rice.
